Integrated CCC, Bench>Press Manuscript Tracking and Management System Streamlines COB Open Access Workflow, Saving Time and Resources
Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization, announced The Company of Biologists, a not-for-profit publisher and U.K. charity promoting research and study across all branches of biology, has chosen to automate the collection and management of Article Processing Charges (APCs) through RightsLink® for Open Access from within HighWire’s Bench>Press™ manuscript submission and tracking system.
With the growth of its Open Access business, The Company of Biologists wanted to simplify the collection of APCs from its authors. By working with CCC to integrate RightsLink for Open Access into its existing Bench>Press manuscript workflow, The Company of Biologists can now provide a familiar yet streamlined experience for submitting charges.
The Company of Biologists publishes five internationally renowned specialist journals; three with the option of Open Access: Development, Journal of Cell Science, and The Journal of Experimental Biology, as well as two fully Open Access titles: Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) and Biology Open (BiO).
Bench>Press is a Web-based manuscript submission and tracking management system developed by HighWire Press for publishers of scholarly content. With Bench>Press, publishers have a high level of flexibility to configure editorial workflows. Designed to integrate easily with HighWire’s online publishing services, Bench>Press reduces time from submission to publication and offers “simple-click” transfer of ahead-of-print articles, auto-transfer of supplemental data files, ready indexing of articles for searching purposes, automatic classification of articles by subject headings, and now, automatic APC collection.
RightsLink for Open Access is CCC’s next-generation platform that can be easily integrated with publishers’ manuscript management and production systems to help automate the collection of Open Access charges, enabling editorial staff to focus on working with authors and publication personnel to produce high-value content for subscribers and customers. RightsLink for Open Access also provides publishers with comprehensive billing and collections services, offers priority customer service to authors, and delivers detailed reporting to both publishers and authors.
