Initiative Streamlines Open Access Publishing Workflows for Scholarly Journals
Philadelphia, PA, October 13, 2014 – The Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading provider of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, today announced a collaboration with Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization, to streamline the Open Access publishing workflow with an integrated solution for article processing charges (APCs) through ScholarOneTM Manuscripts, the premier journal and peer review tool for scholarly publishers and societies.
CCC’s RightsLink® for Open Access will integrate into ScholarOne Manuscripts, providing authors with a secure, end-to-end solution for Open Access article submission and peer review, including the management of APCs. Historically, APC fee processing has been a cumbersome, manual and costly part of the Open Access publishing process.
“The proliferation of Open Access journals requires solution providers to work together to deliver streamlined APC solutions for authors and publishing staff without interrupting editorial workflows,” said Bill Neuman, vice president of Products at CCC. “We are excited to add Thomson Reuters to the growing community of partners that integrate with our RightsLink for Open Access platform.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with CCC on a solution that addresses the many demands of the Open Access publishing process,” said Jasper Simons, vice president of Product and Marketing Strategy, Publishing and Associations at Thomson Reuters. “As the world leader in scholarly publishing solutions, Thomson Reuters is committed to ensuring that our clients can better serve their fields of research with best-in-class technology that provides efficient and secure methods of managing Open Access submissions.”
