World’s Largest General Scientific Society Signs On to Enhanced Solution Which Streamlines Process of Negotiating Republication Rights
Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization, has announced that the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will be participating in CCC’s Republication Service.
The Republication Service is a one-stop digital marketplace to acquire and give republication rights, simplifying the process of negotiating those rights while helping secure permission to republish content from the world’s most sought-after works in a single transaction. Rights acquisition professionals using the service can quickly secure print and digital permissions from hundreds of participating rightsholders, avoid high costs of one-off negotiations, and decrease time to market.
“We can now manage our republication licensing business more efficiently by maintaining control over how our content is used through amenable rules and pricing,” said Beth Rosner, Publisher, AAAS. “We look forward to earning new revenue by automating permissions and freeing up staff to focus on more strategic projects.”
AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the journal Science as well as Science Translational Medicine and Science Signaling. AAAS, founded in 1848, includes some 261 affiliated societies and academies of science, serving ten million individuals. Science has the largest paid circulation of any peer-reviewed general science journal in the world, with an estimated total readership of one million. The non-profit AAAS is open to all and fulfills its mission to “advance science and serve society” through initiatives in science policy as well as in
international programs, science education, and other areas. For the latest research news, log on toEurekAlert!, the premier science-news Web site, a service of AAAS.
