To support their transition to Open Access, The Company of Biologists leveraged CCC’s Scholarly Communications Suite to streamline their OA workflows and build a thriving program.
The open access (OA) movement has grown from a handful of journals in the early 2000s to encompass roughly half of research articles globally. CCC has been there as an innovative partner every step of the way.
As scholarly publishing continues its move to Open Access, publishers need OA management solutions that simplify payment workflows while also enabling the testing of new business models. This was the challenge facing the publishing division of the American Society for Microbiology, ASM Journals.
Bioscientifica collaborated with CCC to implement RightsLink for Scientific Communications to manage and optimize Open Access workflows at a time of growth in number of journals published.
ACS anticipated that a shift to OA would impact the stability of current subscription business models and consequently worked to create a new system that could manage this transition.
