Who should take this course?

This course was created for engineers and others in R&D roles, as well as those in compliance, health, and safety roles, who use standards materials in their work. The course is also relevant for those who are responsible for licensing published content (e.g., librarians, information managers, administrative staff) and those who oversee the organization’s copyright compliance program.  

Course logistics

This course is divided into three modules: 

  • Module 1 discusses some fundamentals of copyright, such as exclusive rights, copyright compliance, and fair use 
  • Module 2 focuses on standards, how they are classified and used, and what their future looks like
  • Module 3 discusses copyright and licensing issues relating to standards and the types of licenses available

These modules are self-paced, with the ability to pause and resume them as needed. At the end of each module, you will need to take a short quiz to earn the completion certificate.
