Copyright Clearance Center Announces Findings From Global RightFind Roundtable Discussions

Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization and the world’s largest commercial document-delivery provider, recently brought together global information professionals from life science and other industries in Boston and Basel, Switzerland.

The two roundtable discussions centered on helping researchers gain easier access to mission-critical content for competitive advantage, creating more flexible licensing models, the impact of Open Access, the increasingly collaborative nature of online research, and challenges to universal resource access, including authentication through proxies and gateways.

“The needs of our customers have always driven our product development and innovation,” said Tracey Armstrong, President and CEO, CCC. “Over the past several years, we’ve found this roundtable format to be mutually beneficial, fostering continued collaboration that directly informs CCC’s ongoing efforts to build content and licensing technology solutions that make copyright work.”

Representatives included industry leaders such as Abbott Laboratories, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Cargill, Covance, Eli Lilly, FrieslandCampina, Genzyme, Janssen, Pfizer, Philip Morris, Nestle, Syngenta, Teva Pharmaceuticals, UCB, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

“The ability to spend the day brainstorming with such a diverse set of knowledge professionals was tremendously beneficial,” said Bob Kowalski, Manager, Information & Library Services, Pfizer Inc. “Having the opportunity to discuss topics critical to our industry and how CCC and the RightFind platform can help to address those needs was a truly valuable exercise.”

CCC’s RightFind™ platform offers immediate, easy access to a full range of science, technical, and medical (STM) peer-reviewed content. Its unique suite of cloud-based workflow solutions includes XML for Mining, the first commercial tool of its kind dedicated to the information industry, coupling content licensing with text mining-ready content, and Content Decision Support Services, which helps information managers make data-driven decisions to support information investments. CCC was recently named one of “10 to Watch” in the Outsell market report, “Text and Data Mining Technologies: Technologies Under Construction.”
