The Motion Picture License (MPL) covers business reuse of tens of thousands of movie and television titles from more than 1,000 producers from around the world – including all the major Hollywood studios.
To verify if the movie or TV show you have in mind is covered under the license, use the Motion Picture License Lookup Tool below. In the SEARCH bar, enter the name of the movie or TV show and click the SUBMIT button. Use the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the window to view the results. A green check mark indicates it’s covered by the MPL, and you’re good to go!

An alternative way to verify rights under the MPL is through IMDb. After finding the title on IMDb, select Cast & Crew, then select Company Credits and look for the list of production companies and distributors. To verify coverage, cross reference that IMDb list against the CCC List of MPL Participating Theatrical Distributors & Producers. One match on both IMDb and on the CCC List is all you need to verify coverage.
