DANVERS, Mass. – April 3, 2018 – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global leader in content management, copyright licensing, discovery and delivery solutions, today announced the launch of task workflow tool, Content Kanban. Used in tandem with the Ixxus Publishing Platform (IPP), or as a standalone tool, Content Kanban provides intuitive content task tracking and management capabilities that streamline development, foster collaboration, and keep projects on schedule.

Publishers and organizations with content-centric workflows require a big-picture view of all content and tasks – from first drafts to finished products. Using the flexible methodology of Kanban, CCC applies the time-tested task-management framework to the lifecycle of content, from the simplest project to the most complex. As a result, teams are more organized and engaged, projects are completed on time and on budget and project updates are communicated faster and more accurately to stakeholders.

“Organizations of all sizes that are rooted in content understand the need for complete visibility into workflows, but few are able to achieve this level of transparency with time-wasted, manual processes,” said Jonathan Brett-Harris, Managing Director of Ixxus at CCC. “With Content Kanban, these organizations not only see content tasks stay on track, they can invest the time saved on status meetings and gathering project data and apply it to developing new workflows.”

Content Kanban features:

  • An intuitive UI with simple screens and in-product support: Users can quickly see the big picture and determine what needs to be done to keep projects on track and on schedule.
  • Flexible, rules-based workflow support: Empowers users to change rules, activities and workflows at any time during the project lifecycle to meet specific project needs.
  • Real-time updates and changes: All changes, edits and updates are reflected immediately and viewable by all users, in the Content Kanban dashboard and within IPP collections.
  • Search and filter options: Users can easily discover specific cards based on defined criteria including title, description, assignee, due date and priority, for painless reporting.
  • An integration with the Ixxus Publishing Platform (IPP): Users can easily generate a Kanban board from a collection or view an existing board within IPP.

Content Kanban is available now to new and existing Ixxus users, whether as part of IPP or as a professional services engagement with Ixxus. For more information, visit http://www.ixxus.com/solutions/ixxus-publishing-platform.

DANVERS, Mass. – February 27, 2018 – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global leader in content management, copyright licensing, discovery and delivery solutions, recently launched the OA Agreement Manager, the first integrated publishing workflow solution to help eliminate the cost and friction from processing funded open access (OA) articles for all stakeholders.

CCC recognizes that for OA to be sustainable in the long-term, current methods used by many publishers, institutions, and funders to manage and track funded article publication charges (APCs) must evolve. One-off invoices involve high-touch manual processes, while insufficient metadata leads to poor reporting and a lack of transparency. Even more importantly, reliance on author knowledge of policies, licensing, and payment requirements introduces errors and creates a highly frustrating user experience.

By listening to and collaborating with key players in the OA publishing ecosystem, CCC has developed a data-driven, cross-publisher solution that solves these core challenges. The new OA Agreement Manager leverages business rules to streamline and automate OA funding requests, enabling publishers, institutions, and funders to easily coordinate a first-rate author-centric experience.

At the center of the OA Agreement Manager is a suite of tools enabling publishers to set up, manage, and track special billing profiles that reflect the terms of their OA agreements with their partner funders or institutions. Supporting many different types of offsetting arrangements, these tools make it possible for publishers to honor these business rules without compromising the author’s user experience, and likewise minimize the manual work required of all stakeholders. Early notifications of accepted manuscripts and an online dashboard enriched with information necessary for prompt approval of funding requests, better enable funders and institutions to advise authors throughout the APC payment process. Authors benefit directly from an automated, rules-driven workflow that removes common obstacles related to licensing, billing and tax requirements. Additionally, single-source, detailed reporting increases transparency for all parties.

“To grow and prosper, publishers increasingly need innovative ways to drive revenue growth while minimizing administrative costs as their programs scale,” said Jennifer Goodrich, Director of Product Management, CCC. “We believe that by establishing an interconnected infrastructure built on sustainable principles and standards, the RightsLink OA Agreement Manager can play a meaningful role in ensuring a sustainable future for open access.”

Further enhancements to the OA Agreement Manager are planned throughout 2018, reflecting continued collaboration with publisher, funder, and institutional partners around the globe.

DANVERS, Mass., February 6, 2017Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global leader in content management, licensing, discovery and delivery solutions, today announced the release of RightFind® Insight, a groundbreaking scientific research solution. RightFind Insight was developed through CCC’s continuing partnership with Cambridge, UK-based SciBite, a leading provider of semantic solutions for the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.

Powered by the SciBite platform, RightFind Insight brings the power of semantic enrichment to the search and reading experience to turn information into knowledge, and accelerate discoveries.

Scientists at pharmaceutical and other life sciences companies face a daily struggle to stay current with a multiplying volume of information from peer-reviewed scientific journals, patent filings, clinical trials data, news, competitive briefs, and more. Two-and-a-half million scientific papers are published annually (Joint Information Systems Committee, 2015) and more scientific research was indexed in MEDLINE between 2010 and 2014 than all research ever published before.

The use of keyword searches to comb through all the available information often fails to uncover the most relevant content—and often yields non-relevant results that bog down the research process. RightFind Insight provides researchers with a thorough, fast, and accurate alternative.

RightFind Insight leverages SciBite’s software suite, including its high-performance TERMite text processing engine and highly enriched associated vocabularies, which quickly identifies and extracts scientific terminology from unstructured text and transforms it into machine-readable data, enabling researchers to make better-informed and more timely decisions.

By combining semantic enrichment of documents with, full-text search, RightFind Insight users are able to:

  • Gain scientific and medical insights more quickly.
  • Find content relevant to their research in less time.
  • Instantly enrich documents to derive more value from the reading experience.

For Information Managers facing pressure to do more with less, RightFind Insight demonstrates the value of the information center by aligning content investments with strategic business objectives.

“With RightFind Insight, we can provide a solution to help researchers and business users efficiently find relevant content to discover insights more quickly,” said Jamie Carmichael, Director, Corporate Products and Services. “We are excited to offer our customers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the power of semantic enrichment and make published literature more discoverable through our collaboration with SciBite,” she continues.

“Collaborating with CCC to integrate our robust semantic enrichment software and capabilities into RightFind Insight provides us with a rewarding opportunity to offer researchers a game-changing solution to content search and discovery,” remarked SciBite’s CEO & President, Rob Greenwood. “With RightFind Insight, SciBite and CCC continue to make a great impact on important work in drug discovery, life sciences, and many other areas.”

LONDON – December 12, 2017 – Data systems integration and knowledge engineering experts Ixxus today announced a strategic collaboration with Silicon Publishing. Under the agreement, Ixxus will resell Silicon’s extension to the Adobe Creative Cloud, Silicon Connector for Alfresco, on a subscription basis as a complement to Ixxus’ multiple content solutions, including the Ixxus Publishing Platform.

Silicon Connector for Alfresco aligns with Ixxus’ ongoing efforts to provide workflow automation services that integrate into customers’ existing tools for the full content lifecycle. The connector enables designers and others who primarily work within Adobe’s InDesign to access Alfresco-based content assets without having to change context. Rather than having to stop midstream to log in and access content elsewhere, designers can simply drag and drop Alfresco-based items directly into their layout, and maintain the links to approved and centrally stored assets.

In addition, the linkage is persistent, which means that any updates made to an asset in Alfresco are automatically applied to all documents that contain the asset. The result is that Ixxus can now offer its Alfresco-based customers true single-source asset management capabilities for enterprise authoring workflows. An entire team can work collaboratively with a single set of assets residing solely in Alfresco.

“We are delighted to work with Silicon Publishing to offer our customers such an innovative workflow tool to support their digital transformation efforts,” said Ixxus’ Chief Innovations Officer, Paul Twelftree. He explains: “Among other benefits, the Silicon Connector enables our Alfresco-based customers to achieve efficiencies at multiple points within the production workflow. They will now have utter confidence that their designers are working with the same ‘single source of truth’ content files—and, with Adobe InDesign, that all layouts are updated with the latest version of each contained asset.”

Silicon Publishing’s Co-Founder and President, Max Dunn, shared, “In the past year or so, we have received requests from many companies seeking an Alfresco/Adobe connector. We view this agreement with Ixxus as a great opportunity to provide a needed solution to Alfresco ECM users.”

DANVERS, Mass., December 5, 2017SAGE Publishing, a leading international publisher of journals, books, and digital media for academic, educational, and professional markets, has substantially expanded their investment in the RightsLink® for Open Access platform from Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global licensing and content solutions organization.

RightsLink for Open Access is a metadata-driven e-commerce platform that helps publishers provide a best-in-class experience for their authors throughout the publication process by streamlining author fee transactions for open access charges, page charges, color charges, and more, right within the workflow.

SAGE initially partnered with RightsLink in March 2015 to implement an efficient, flexible, and scalable solution for managing article publication charges (APCs), while addressing institutional requirements and complying with funder mandates.

Reflecting the growth and evolution of its open access publishing program, SAGE has now expanded their RightsLink participation to include 60 additional open access journals and is working towards adding their full portfolio of publications offering hybrid OA options.

SAGE is also the first early adopter of RightsLink’s new OA Agreement Manager (forthcoming in February), which automates authors’ OA funding requests using agreement-based business rules and enables publishers, institutions, and funders to manage and report on transactions. As a close partner, SAGE’s feedback was instrumental to the development of this new functionality, which is designed to remove friction from paying, managing, and reporting on APCs by connecting stakeholders through automated, data-driven tools.

“We are pleased to expand our relationship with CCC by broadening the journals and transactions managed through RightsLink,” said Graeme Doswell, SAGE’s Head of Business Solutions and System Operations. “Outsourcing author transactions to CCC makes sense not only to provide our authors with an easy tool to make payments but also provides us with a scalable, reliable platform to serve the evolving needs of institutions and funders.”

“We believe that publishers can use RightsLink, which provides a seamless and easy experience for authors throughout the article production process, to grow and prosper in today’s author-centric publishing environment,” said Jennifer Goodrich, Director of Product Management, CCC. “We are proud that SAGE Publishing chose CCC to support them in their rapid rise in the OA world and we continue to benefit from the partnership as we continue to explore enhancements and improvements to RightsLink for Open Access together.”

LONDON – October 10, 2017 – Data systems integration and knowledge engineering experts Ixxus today announced that scholarly publisher Emerald Publishing and world-renowned educational foundation International Baccalaureate (IB) recently became the two latest organizations to deploy the Ixxus Publishing Platform (IPP) to meet their most challenging digital transformation initiatives.

By providing a suite of authoring, assembling, enrichment, discovery, reuse and delivery capabilities, the IPP empowers digital transformation by streamlining production workflows, accelerating new product assembly and maximizing the value of every asset.

The IB selected the IPP to coordinate the production of multi-lingual educational materials for the global community of IB educators. The scalable platform enables more effective management of content iterations and delivery across different languages and geographies from one central platform. The IPP also enables IB to achieve dynamic assemblies of granular XML content, another important feature for the IB team.

“The ability to provide multilingual content is critical for us to support IB World Schools in the delivery of the four IB programmes,” said Robert Bolick, ‎Head of Multilingual Publishing Group at International Baccalaureate. “Our staff will be able to navigate easily within the Ixxus platform to create and enrich materials that meet our world-class educational standards.”
Emerald Publishing selected the IPP to manage the full lifecycle of scholarly journal content from editorial through online dissemination, which will be integrated with ScholarOne Manuscripts to ingest and manage journal submissions.

“The Ixxus Publishing Platform will provide one central platform where our editorial teams can search, discover, assemble and leverage content,” explained Ernst Kallus, Technology & Programme Director at Emerald Publishing. “Plus, the ability to create granular relationships between content types will enable us to see and navigate links between articles, authors and institutions—getting us closer to our content than ever before.”

“We are delighted to partner with IB and Emerald Publishing and work with their talented teams to customize solutions to support their strategies and operations,” said Jonathan Brett-Harris, Managing Director, Ixxus. “Participating in our customers’ digital transformation journeys continues to inspire and drive innovation within our own organization.”

Ixxus recently released several additional customer-driven platform enhancements for content reuse and lifecycle management, including an optional module that empowers organizations to track and manage content development automatically using a kanban-based dashboard. This unique module provides a simple and efficient way to dynamically define workflows of content production pipelines, and obtain a big-picture view of the development status of each project.

To learn more about the IPP and how it can accelerate your digital transformation, please visit our booth (Hall 4.2, Stand E18) at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair or contact sales@ixxus.com.

DANVERS, Mass., October 2, 2017 – RightsDirect, a subsidiary of Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), today announced they are partnering with Meteo Inc., a leading provider of Japanese medical information. Using RightFind® and RightsLink® offerings available through CCC and RightsDirect, Meteo will expand global sales of its articles and help increase the company’s brand awareness for content aggregation to the worldwide market.

With the new arrangement, over one million medical articles and citations in Meteo’s Medical Online subscription are integrated into RightFind, a content workflow solution offering secure, cloud-based access to content, as part of its repository. Additionally, rights to Meteo’s content are added to the Republication License Service, available through Copyright.com, the most comprehensive source for clearing broad republication permissions.

“Our partnership with Meteo not only enriches RightFind’s content repository and provides rights to articles through RightsLink for our users, but aligns with CCC’s mission to generate new revenue opportunities for rightsholders in Japan and around the world,” said Tracey Armstrong, CEO, CCC. “We look forward to building this relationship and growing the content and rights access for our users who work tirelessly to move pharmaceutical research forward. This arrangement also demonstrates CCC’s further commitment to the Japanese market by enabling seamless access to more than one million medical articles in the Japanese language for RightFind end users.”

RightFind streamlines access to STM research databases, literature, corporate repositories and personal files, while at the same time reducing the cost of managing and hosting these information resources. The solution integrates seamlessly with CCC’s Annual Copyright License to make copyright-compliant collaboration easier for users.

“We are very pleased to make a partnership with CCC/RightsDirect. This partnership opens up an opportunity for us and Japanese rightsholders to access the global market through CCC/RightsDirect’s trusted and global channel,” said Mr. Yuji Tahara, CEO, Meteo Inc. “It also solves our common customer challenges: to provide and manage both Japanese and English articles in a simple, easy and copyright-compliant way.”

Meteo content in RightFind is available to users now, with Japanese content rights coming to Republication License Service later this month.

DANVERS, Mass., August 10, 2017Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a global leader in content management, licensing, discovery and delivery solutions, today announced enhancements to RightFind, the leading content workflow solution that provides secure, cloud-based access to scientific, technical and medical (STM) information and other categories of high-value content.

With the new release, CCC focused on target areas of RightFind to better serve customers’ interests, including:

  • Instant document delivery for non-subscribed content, which enables users to view a document within seconds of placing an order—regardless of how many articles are being ordered or how the content is being made available—accelerating content workflow and collaboration.
  • Improved content in context, including the expansion of Altmetric data, giving users the ability to quickly identify the online attention—for example from social media—surrounding articles from their search results.
  • A refreshed interface that displays re-use rights information in a variety of workflows.
  • A new Open Access icon that allows users to quickly identify Open Access content, including the growing base of articles available through CCC.

“We have made numerous updates to RightFind that will help users work faster and smarter,” said Lauren Tulloch, Senior Director, Corporate Products and Services. “With a focus on user-friendly enhancements that inspire collaboration, along with CCC’s expert customer service, we can empower our customers to access more information in less time and with more confidence than ever before.”

CCC’s RightFind includes Open Access content from PubMed, DOAJ, BioMed Central, American Society for Microbiology and SpringerNature. With this update, granular Open Access coverage soon will expand to content from Taylor and Francis, Karger, American Society for Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics and other publishers.

RightFind maximizes access to STM research databases, literature, corporate repositories and personal files, while at the same time reducing the cost of managing and hosting these information resources. The solution integrates seamlessly with CCC’s Annual Copyright License to make copyright-compliant collaboration easier for users.
