Your company is a creative powerhouse. Setting aside formal titles and departments, your employees are creators, producers and publishers of content. And they don’t just reside in your marketing and corporate communications departments, they’re spread out across the org chart developing presentations, videos, web content to help motivate and train employees, engage with customers and prospects, recruit new talent and build your company’s brand. They rely on external content to get the job done and increasingly that means using music sourced from the web.

For legal counsel, fielding one-off employee requests for this content can be time-consuming and often leads to an answer of “No” which can be frustrating for all parties. Of greater concern are those employees that are unaware of the licensing issues associated with using music in presentations and videos.

Listen to business, technology, entertainment, and licensing lawyer Joy Butler as she discusses:

  • The use of music in the workplace
  • The different types of music licenses
  • The copyright implications
  • How in-house counsel can minimize risk while enabling employees to express their creativity.

Commercial Sales have long been an important source of revenue for many societies, particularly in the health sciences. Very often this income is invested to provide improved benefits for society members. Changes in legislation and industry requirements pose new challenges. Traditional models such as advertising and article reprints are in decline while other forms of sales on the increase. Societies and publishers need to be able to navigate the ethics around commercial sales. They need to be open and transparent and follow best practice and legislation around disclosures.
This webinar will focus on key areas of change in the industry affecting ethical commercial sales. What are the issues that societies and publishers need to be aware of? What has changed? Where are the new opportunities for growth?
Our expert speakers will focus on three key areas of commercial sales: navigating relationships with industry in an ethical manner, packaging content to add value; and leveraging journal assets to maximise revenue ethically. They will offer a range of industry perspectives and offer information and insight into the issues and opportunities in today’s market. There will also be time for questions.

Researchers struggle to gain access to full-text articles for commercial text mining. When they do get the full text they must contend with multiple formats and inconsistent license terms – all of which inhibit text mining efforts. To address these issues, Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), parent company of RightsDirect, partnered with Linguamatics to make it easier for I2E end users to obtain and index full-text XML articles from multiple scientific publishers. The integrated CCC and Linguamatics solution makes high value data sources available for information analysis through text mining.

Learn about CCC’s RightFind® XML for Mining solution, the integration with Linguamatics I2E and how the combined solution improves the results of text and data mining queries, reduces costs and mitigates infringement risk.

In this webinar you’ll learn:

  • The benefits of text mining full-text articles compared to abstracts
  • How to streamline the process for text mining full-text journals and articles
  • An understanding of how the new CCC and Linguamatics text mining solution works
  • How flexible NLP text mining from Linguamatics can provide precise results, quickly

Who should attend?

  • Bioinformaticians, cheminformaticians, knowledge management professionals
  • Anyone with an interest in getting better value from their textual information, working within the life sciences or healthcare
  • Anyone who finds text mining full-text scientific journals time-consuming or problematic

This session is sponsored by Copyright Clearance Center.
