Copyright Clearance Center and Reprints Desk Partner to Integrate Rights Management and Document Delivery Services

DANVERS, Mass., December 2, 2008—Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), the world's largest provider of copyright licensing solutions, and Reprints Desk, a top-rated document delivery provider, today announced a partnership designed to help corporations get the most value from their investments in high value content. The partnership will initially focus on integrating RightSphere, CCC's award—winning rights management solution with the STM Document Delivery service from Reprints Desk.

Companies that adopt an integrated RightSphere-STM Document Delivery solution will make it easier for their corporate researchers and other knowledge professionals to share scientific, technical, and medical (STM) content in a copyright-compliant manner. RightSphere customers who purchase peer-reviewed journal articles via Reprints Desk will be able to find out what rights they have to use and share this high value content. Reprints Desk will enable users to check the rights status of the content against CCC's RightSphere database without having to leave the document delivery workflow.

"CCC recognizes that RightSphere customers access content in multiple ways and may want to check rights from several workflows. As an innovator in content retrieval and document delivery, Reprints Desk is a natural partner," said Bob Weiner, Senior VP of Licensing, Copyright Clearance Center. "By integrating RightSphere's user-friendly rights advisory application into the Reprints Desk content workflow, our customers can put their rights to work immediately, enabling instant collaboration and freer flow of information across the organization while ensuring that they comply with company policies and licenses.

"This agreement brings together the best of rights management with the best of document delivery," said Peter Derycz, Reprints Desk CEO and Chairman. "Companies that value information sharing, copyright compliance, and content workflow efficiencies now have yet another compelling reason to consider RightSphere and STM Document Delivery from Reprints Desk."

Launched in 2006, RightSphere has been adopted by global leaders in the pharmaceutical, aerospace and consumer goods industries. The Web-based application allows information managers and corporate librarians to consolidate, organize and manage rights at a highly granular level, ensuring immediate, accurate answers that fully leverage the value of content licenses. Reprints Desk was ranked first overall and in every category in the 2008 Document Delivery Best Practices and Vendor Scorecard by research and advisory firm Outsell, Inc.
