- The CONTU guidelines were developed to help define
the allowable amounts for periodical copying. The CONTU
guidelines are not law, nor are they part of the Copyright
Act.
- The receiving library typically reports and pays for
copyright permission, unless the lending library is providing
the material as part of a fee-based service.
- Libraries conducting both ILL and paid document delivery
services should make an effort to keep the two practices
separate.
